Cufflinks Description
The Aymara Owl Eye Butterfly Cufflinks feathery appearance of the Caligo Oileus wings are hardly ever seen during the day, as the butterflies are primarily nocturnal, but these cufflinks are a lasting testament to their night-time elegance. The cufflinks are made from real Caligo Oileus butterfly wings, which are then enameled over, and set in circle shaped Peruvian Sterling Silver. These butterflies are recognized by their owl-like eyes that adorn the underside of their hindwings and soft, feathery appearance. The have a slow flapping flight, so their "eyespot" could possibly function as a decoy from predators, which is a great example of their evolutionary success. The feathery appearance of the Caligo Oileus wings are rarely seen during the day, as the butterflies are primarily nocturnal, but these cufflinks are a lasting testament to their night-time elegance. The Caligo Oileus Butterfly spends its time resting for very long periods on tree trunks, and can be quite difficult to spot. But if they do happen to be spotted from below by a bird, the simply extend their luscious wings, which can be mistaken for an actual owl. The Caligo Oileus is usually encountered singly, flying just before dusk along narrow trails, and on damp and dull mornings they can be seen fluttering along the edges of forest roads. These graceful, nocturnal creatures are a testament to the grandeur of evolution and the supreme beauty in nature.
